MAFRA (the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs) and aT (Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation) recently developed a Chinese-language mobile application, 韓新食品 (lit. new Korean food products), where Chinese buyers can easily access information about new Korean food products. The app also allows Korean food exporters to promote and start selling their products soon after each product is launched.
The app can be downloaded on the mobile website hanshi.at.or.kr/app/download. Its biggest advantage is that Chinese buyers can check information about Korean products in real time on a mobile device. Until recently, the most common ways to do that were to participate in an export consultation or to access the website of a Korean food exporter, but now, the buyers can find what they want simply with a touch on a smartphone screen.
Specification, image, manufacturing company, and other information about new food products is translated into Chinese. Buyers can promptly send their inquiries about the product by email or call the person in charge using their smart phones. By using this platform, participating Korean food exporters have an excellent opportunity to promote their products.
About 90 Korean food exporters and about 160 new food products were listed on the application, and about 350 Chinese buyers used the app as of November 2016.
A staff member of aT said, “We hope the mobile app will hold its place as an online platform for the export of new Korean agriproducts to China.”
