Killing Three Birds with One Stone: Eating Rice, Quick and Simple Cooking
In the busy life of a modern man, it is not easy to have a full meal. That is why many of us have no choice but to look for a convenient, easy-to-make food. At the same time, there is a trend for eating healthy foods, and many consumers question the benefits of eating bread, cereals, and other foods that may contain high calories and MSG. Ultimately, people want to have convenient foods with low calories and no added artificial flavors. And if cooking the meal is also hygienic and requires little time, that’s the dream of any consumer coming true. “Yeoju Rice Noodles,” the cup noodles invented by the Korean company Hyunnong Co., Ltd., ideally meet all these requirements and for this reason attract attention from those, such as busy office workers and students, who are pressed for time.

“Yeoju Rice Noodles” are made with 50 percent Yeoju rice. Yeoju is the name of an area in Korea that is considered best for growing rice thanks to its climate—four distinct seasons and twenty-four solar terms. The rice here is cultivated using ecologically clean water and red clay soil.
The rice brand has a long history and earned its reputation as having such a great quality and taste that in the olden times it was presented to the king as a tribute. The noodles made with Yeoju rice do not swell for a long time and stay rather chewy. Unlike other flour-processed foods, such as ramen, the noodles are both easily digested and easy on the stomach. They are also good on a diet as they are not fried and thus have no trans fat.
What’s more, the packaging is flawless. Made of paper and using polypropylene caps, the packages are free from environmentally hazardous substances. The noodles are available in three flavors—anchovy, seafood, and dried Pollack—and are produced in a factory equipped with the latest sanitization system.
The product was first exported to the United States in 2008 with sales of USD$12,000. Exports to Japan are scheduled to start in the second half of this year.
