Among Korean marine products, overseas consumers regard seasoned squid as the best in taste and quality. This is because the Korean manufacturers have developed a variety of differently processed squid products using the techniques and latest sanitation facilities refined over a long period of time. Over one hundred companies now export Korean seasoned squid and over 40 percent of them are actively participating in promoting the excellent taste and quality of their products in the overseas markets.

Korean seasoned squid is exported to ten countries including the United States, Japan, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Australia. Overseas consumers mainly prefer to eat chewy and slightly salty Korean seasoned squid products as snacks or side dishes to drinks. On the wave of healthy food, the producers have added to the squid items ingredients such as chitosan and red ginseng extract. So foreign consumers are encountering the newly transformed products as healthy snacks. SEGYERO FISHERIES CO., LTD. which exports “Green Tea Seasoned Squid,” is receiving attention in many countries like the USA, Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia.

No fishy smell·Chewy texture
Three “Lows” Salt, Fat, and Cholesterol

“Green Tea Seasoned Squid,” the hit item of SEGYERO FISHERIES CO., LTD. combines the world-renowned healthy green tea with squid. The core of the process is soaking dried squid in the brewed green tea. The fishy smell of squid disappears while the product becomes chewy and tender.

A lot of squid products use seasoning to give squid a better taste. This is why many seasoned squid products are high in salinity. Compared to other products, “Green Tea Seasoned Squid” is low in salt and fat. The product is rich in taurine, which is good for fatigue. And consumers can enjoy it as a nutritious snack. What’s more, the squid’s skin, which contains a lot of cholesterol, has been peeled off in a two-stage process, so the product is low in cholesterol as well.

There are three main kinds of “Green Tea Seasoned Squid” - dried, roasted, and seasoned. The dried squid product is targeting the higher-income group. As it is made with organic green tea extract and the best quality squid, it is popular as a gift. The second type is processed by roasting the squid four times at 180~200℃. Thanks to this, consumers can enjoy the chewy texture of squid and the delicate fragrance of green tea at once. The small-packaged seasoned squid item is easy to eat anytime and anywhere. Other squid products such as “cut and seasoned squid” and “half-dried seasoned squid” are also available.

Actively Exported to the East and West of the United Sates
Plans to Export to the Markets in Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia This Year

The main export market for “Green Tea Seasoned Squid” is the USA. The products are actively distributed through forty H-Marts on the East Coast and fifty JAYEON FOODS stores in the West of the country. The producer has concluded contracts with buyers to export the products to Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Visitors to the 2011 HOFEX (Hong Kong Food Expo 2011) from the countries that consume a lot of squid, such as Japan and China, showed a particular interest in “Green Tea Seasoned Squid.”

Jong Jong-ok, the CEO of SEGYERO FISHERIES CO., LTD. proudly says that the “Green Tea Seasoned Squid products are very different from being simply a snack. They are a healthy food. In the future, so that many overseas consumers enjoy eating our products, our company will continue its ceaseless efforts to expand the markets for seasoned squid products all around world.”
